The Blatherings Of A Blitherer

I was talking about some of my thrift-store finds with my mom, and mentioned that I’d gotten a pair of capris and a pair of too-long jeans that I might cut capri length.

She advised me against capri length pants, on account of they might make my legs look short.

Look. I’m 5’2″. Short of strapping on stilts, there’s no way of making my legs look not short.

That’s just… how I am. Short an’ stumpy.

The length of my pants doesn’t affect that in any way.

There is a definite midi-legnth skirt that I cannot wear because suddenly I look super stumpy. Normally my monkey arms offset the short inseam/short self, but that nebulous mid-shin range ruins it. Capris though? They’re fine. It’s clam-diggers (mid-calf) that ruin the line of the leg and really stumpify. You think you are stumpy now, but that is a length that will make it worse.

You see, I’m so short that short pants touch my feet just about. Capris, board shorts, clam diggers… they all come within a few fingers of my ankles anyway. So who cares, right?
